Rose C.
Hello! My name is Rose, and I studied Advertising & Graphic Design at Humber Polytechnic before joining Rose Rocket for my co-op field experience. I’m passionate about creating advertisements and brand identities through visual storytelling, and my time at Rose Rocket gave me the opportunity to grow both creatively and professionally in ways I never expected.
During my time at Rose Rocket, I had the opportunity to collaborate with incredible people across a variety of projects, team-building activities, and the company’s very first A.I. Week; a week dedicated to building, coding, and learning together to expand our understanding of A.I and improve our workflows.
This experience was especially valuable to me because I was still relatively new to A.I. when I first joined the company. Through workshops, presentations, and hands-on collaboration, I gained confidence in incorporating A.I. tools into my own creative process and daily workflow.
I worked closely under my design team lead, JT, who mentored me while I designed various Meta advertisements and collaborated with him on one of the company’s newest projects, Boreal A.I. This project quickly became the work I am most proud of during my internship experience. Being involved in the early stages of the design process and contributing to the brand identity for Boreal A.I. allowed me to strengthen both my collaboration and design skills in a meaningful way.
Choosing just one memorable moment from my time at Rose Rocket is difficult because I joined during such an exciting period for the company. From the opening of a new office space to A.I. Week and a Spring Soirée event to wrap it all up, my first week was filled with unforgettable experiences.
If I had to choose one standout memory, it would be one of the workshops during A.I. Week. Throughout the week, developers shared insightful presentations and demonstrations, but the moment that stood out the most was the creation of what we jokingly called the “Fart Machine.” The idea was completely spontaneous and undeniably hilarious, turning the workshop into a fun and relaxed environment where everyone could laugh, experiment, and collaborate creatively.
That moment perfectly reflected what I was to discover as the company culture at Rose Rocket; innovative, collaborative, and never afraid to have fun while learning.
Rose Rocket embodies what a positive work environment should feel like: collaborative, welcoming, and genuinely supportive, with just the right amount of fun mixed in.
Starting a new position can feel intimidating, especially as a co-op student entering an established team, but I was surprised by how quickly I felt comfortable in the office. Everyone made an effort to introduce themselves, ask about my experience, and make me feel included from day one. Not to mention the endless cups of delicious coffee from their in-office café.
The culture at Rose Rocket is deeply centered around community. Whether you are a full-time employee, an intern, or someone completely new to the company, there is a strong sense that your ideas and contributions matter. It created an environment where I felt encouraged to learn, ask questions, and grow confidently as a designer.
I’ve learned an incredible amount during my short time at Rose Rocket, and the experience has significantly shaped how I view myself as a designer. Working closely with JT greatly improved both my confidence and my relationship with design as a whole.
Before starting my co-op, I often struggled to define myself creatively. I had many artistic interests and constantly tried to combine all of them into a single style or direction. During school, this sometimes made it difficult for me to focus my creativity into projects because I felt pressured to create work that represented every part of who I was as an artist.
My experience at Rose Rocket helped me realize that design does not need to fit into one strict category or identity. Creativity can evolve, adapt, and exist in many forms at once. Through mentorship, collaboration, and real-world design experience, I began to trust my instincts more and embrace experimentation within my work instead of overthinking every creative decision.
Working on projects like Boreal A.I. taught me the importance of communication, adaptability, and confidence in the design process. I learned how valuable collaboration can be when building ideas from the ground up, and how much stronger creative work becomes when you are surrounded by supportive people who encourage growth.
Most importantly, this experience reminded me why I fell in love with design in the first place. It allowed me to reconnect with my creativity in a healthier and more confident way, and it reinforced that design is not just about creating visuals, rather it’s about storytelling, problem-solving, and continuously learning from the people around you.
